Toastmasters in the News

According to Wikipedia Public Relations (PR) is the managing of outside communication of an organization or business to create and maintain a positive image. Public Relations involves popularizing successes, announcing changes, and many other activities.

An exciting year lies ahead for District 6 and it is my job as Public Relations Officer to spread the word about all that excitement. With our new District leaders, Pat Croal, Joan Watson and Allan Bernard, 10 new Division Governors and over 50 new Area Governors, great contests, anniversaries, and other special events, there should be plenty of opportunity to see Toastmasters in the News.

The State Fair chairman, Teresa Fegn, is already receiving requests to sign up for slots at our State Fair booth where new signage and a new look should get plenty of attention from State Fair goers. Teresa can be reached at abfhxfan@comcast.net.

The TELI is right around the corner and information including educational sessions will be sent to every corner of the District. There will be a PR presentation at TELI which will assist all clubs in their guest packets, webpages, newsletters and other forms of advertising their clubs. This panel will be filled by all the PR contest winners from the 2006-2007 contests. Attending this presentation will give all clubs the opportunity to improve their PR tools and see what it takes to be a winner in the various categories.

Scott Kruse has agreed to help with flyers, posters, or any other type of advertising for your clubs. Scott can be reached at scottakruse@gmail.com.

With a lively year ahead, and great assistants, Scott Kruse, Teresa Fegn and BJ Olsen, the word about Toastmasters shall be spread far and wide throughout the district. I look forward to meeting many more of you during this 2007-2008 Toastmaster year.
